Our Fears

Maybe the bigger the car we have
The more we fear being small.

Maybe the bigger the house we have
The more we fear having nothing.

Maybe the more we put pictures of ourselves facebook
The more we fear being irrelevant.

Maybe the more precautions we take
The more we fear mistakes.

Maybe the louder we talk
The more we fear not being heard.

Maybe the harder we work
The more we fear our life has no true purpose.

Maybe the more we change direction
The more we fear choosing the wrong path.

Maybe the more we try to control those we love
The more we fear being alone.

Maybe the more we tell people what to do
The more we fear the truth that we don’t know.

And, maybe, just maybe, we should stop putting our fears into our children
And just let them grow.
